Crookhorn

Postwar family suburb centred on Crookhorn College and quiet residential streets

A residential area to the south-east of Waterlooville, developed mainly in the postwar decades. Crookhorn takes its name from Crookhorn Lane, which runs through the area. The housing is predominantly postwar semis and detached houses built during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, with some later additions. The Crookhorn College (secondary school) is the main institutional presence in the area. The residential streets are quiet, with family-sized houses set in moderate plots. Crookhorn Lane connects to Stakes Road and provides access to the wider road network. The area has a settled, family-orientated character, and properties are popular with families because of the school catchment and the reasonable house prices compared to the more expensive areas of southern Hampshire. A small parade of shops on Stakes Road serves the daily needs of Crookhorn residents. Bus routes along Stakes Road provide connections to Waterlooville town centre and Havant.
