Hart Plain
Quiet postwar residential area with a community playing field and family housing
A residential area within the eastern part of Waterlooville, centred on Hart Plain Avenue and the surrounding streets. The area was developed mainly in the 1950s and 1960s as part of the wider expansion of Waterlooville and sits between Stakes and the open ground to the east. Housing is predominantly postwar semis and detached houses, with some bungalows and later infill. Hart Plain Avenue runs through the centre of the neighbourhood, with residential closes and cul-de-sacs branching off on both sides. A playing field on Hart Plain provides open space for local sports teams and informal recreation. The community has a quiet, suburban character, with well-maintained properties and a family-orientated feel. The area is within reach of Waterlooville town centre by bus or a short drive, and local shops on Stakes Road provide everyday essentials. Hart Plain Primary School serves the younger children of the neighbourhood.
