Lovedean

Semi-rural northern fringe where suburbia meets open farmland and the South Downs

A rural-edged settlement on the northern fringe of the Waterlooville area, where the suburban housing meets open farmland and the South Downs. Lovedean sits to the north of Cowplain and has a semi-rural character that distinguishes it from the more built-up areas further south. The village has a church, a pub and a scattering of houses along the lanes that lead out towards Denmead and the Meon Valley. Lovedean Lane and the surrounding roads have a mix of older properties, farmsteads and some newer infill. The area is popular with walkers and horse riders, with bridleways and footpaths connecting to the wider countryside. The views northward across open fields towards the South Downs are a reminder that Waterlooville sits on the very edge of the Hampshire countryside. Lovedean retains something of its agricultural past, and the pace of life here is noticeably slower than in the busy town centre a couple of miles to the south.
